Padmasree Dr. K.N. Pai Our Guiding Light |
|||||||
| Dr. K.N. Pai Heart Foundation is a charitable trust established mainly to extend advanced medical facilities to the poor. The foundation enables us to offer expensive procedures at considerably reduced charges to economically backward patients. Popularisation of preventive medical measures and other health education programmes are also the main objectives of the foundation. The Trust was named after the late Padmasree Dr. K.N. Pai, former Professor of Medicine at Trivandrum Medical College, as he was the epitome of physician excellence and human compassion. He was the best medical teacher and Guru for hundreds of very successful doctors all over the world. |

The foundation extends free and charitable treatment to the poor, especially in open heart surgery and cataract surgery. Health education programmes with seminars, camps and exhibitions are organised to improve public awareness about diseases and their preventive measures. Continued medical education programmes with symposia, meetings and seminars are also regularly organised. The foundation has established a rural general hospital at Vattappara, Nedumangad Municipality, to provide good quality medial care at affordable cost. When the SUT Group decided to establish a medical college under the auspices of the Foundation, SUT Rural General Hospital became the natural choice as the teaching hospital for the medical college and the hospital is now being expanded to make it an excellent centre for the learning and practice medicine. |
| Post Graduate Foundation |
|
A post graduate foundation and library has been functioning from inception at SUT Hospital to promote academic activities and continued medical education. Regular programmes for continued medical education are being held. In many meetings, the faculty included experts from India and abroad. In addition the hospital has regular in-house meetings such as Clinical Club meetings on Mondays, histopathology meetings on Tuesdays, Radiology meetings on Fridays and Journal Club on Wednesdays. The concept of SUT College of Medicine was conceived from our early academic activities. |
