          The buzz word today in every field is 'KAIZEN'- continuous, ongoing and never ending improvement. Our Medical Education Unit has this very aim of providing continuous and never ending efforts to improve teaching methods and skills. Our Chairman, Dr. Joy Philip has special training in the subject in Dundee, UK and National Teacher Training Centre, JIPMER. He also possesses PGDHE from IGNOU. Most of our senior professors are all trained in Medical Education from NTTC or state level teacher training programmes. Dr. Vijayalekshmi Menon, our Convenor, was also the Convenor of the Centre for Health Professionals Education at Medical College, Thiruvananathapuram. Our centre has already started daily Microteaching, Teacher Training Workshop, Objective Question Bank creation and Development of self learning modules.

         Apart from the mandatory 'End of semester examinations', as per the University and Medical Council regulations, our 'Weekly formative evaluation' would provide a continuous and comprehensive monitoring of studies and opportunity for timely 'remedial' counseling.

            As an ongoing process, all our faculty and teaching programmes would be evaluated by the students and the student feedback reports would be used for continuous quality improvement.

           It would not be surprising if the unit is the first of its kind in the country.
